RURAL RADIO |
|
AMKA is approaching Rural radio as a strong mean of communication
to spread its plans around larger areas and larger groups of people.
But what is Rural radio? As the FAO
Rural Radio Website clearly defines, Rural radio is a vital
communication tool, particularly in Africa. Created and established
more than three decades ago, this form of radio has become increasingly
familiar, loved and used by the local populations.
|
|
|
It promotes the exchange of views, brings people closer together,
stimulates information, and enhances the value of local know-how.
Thanks to rural radio, people can familiarise themselves with their
environment and with the local socio-economic and health care programmes.
Rural radio also offers information and understanding of the world
around. Thus, rural populations can participate in the development
programmes and activities.
| Rural radio fulfils a large number
of functions, as: |

preserving and enhancing oral and musical heritage. |

| |

a wide range of development issues. |
| |

(e.g. radio listening groups and print media). |
| |
